Music Library Association

Now recognized as one of America's eminent architectural firms, Hardy Holzman Pfeiffer Associates first appeared on the scene in the late 1960's with a series of highly innovative designs that took the profession by storm. During the thirty years of HHPA's practice, the firm has maintained its spirit of collaboration and experimentation while expanding into larger-scale and more ambitious projects. This second Rizzoli monograph on the firm's work spans the last five years, a period of prodigious growth for HHPA. Among the fifty projects presented with detailed descriptions and numerous illustrations are Windows on the World restaurant in the World Trade Center and Bryant Park in New York; the Cleveland Public Library; the Hawaii Theatre Center in Honolulu; the comprehensive development plan for the Warner Bros. Hollywood Studios; and the Los Angeles Public Library. A catalog of the work and partner's and associates' biographies complete the volume.

Music Library Association - The Music Library Association, as stated on their website, was "founded in 1931, [and] is the professional organization in the United States devoted to music librarianship and all aspects of music materials in libraries."

Music libraries - There are five types of music libraries: (1) those developed to support research and performance departments of music in larger university or college settings; (2) those developed to support conservatories; (3) those housed within public libraries; (4) those developed as independent research libraries; and (5) special libraries supporting agencies such as National Public Library. The National Association for Music Education - MENC: The National Association for Music Education, also referred to as the National Music Educators Association and formerly called Music Educators' National Conference, is an organization based out of Reston, Virginia which is focused on the advancement of music education, both as a profession and the assurance of music education as part of the core curriculum across the United States.

Ontario Library Association - Founded in 1900, the Ontario Library Association is the oldest continually operating library association in Canada. With 5,007 members as of December 31 2004, the OLA is the largest library association in Canada.
